Forced Marraige & Honour Based Violence Training for Youth Workers - Dundee
Tue 24 January 2017, 13:30 – 16:30 GMT
We are delivering a series of courses aimed at Youth Workers working throughout Scotland. Visit www.engageme.org.uk/youthworktraining/ to find out more or call us on 0141 218 4016.
This course is designed to increase participants’ awareness of forced marriage and its implications. It will specifically explore the differences between forced and arranged marriage and reasons why a forced marriage might take place. It will take a detailed look at why victims do not typically access services and how service providers can work to overcome barriers. The course will also explore honourbased violence, the reasons why this form of abuse is practiced in some communities, and the implications for the victim. On completion of the course, participants will also have an understanding of the legal position on forced marriage in Scotland and how the Forced Marriage Protection Order can be used. The course will also outline good practice guidelines for service providers addressing issues around forced marriage.
