Event description

Description

In social care practice today the issues of forced migration and global citizenship are complex and wide-ranging. The focus of this conference is to bring together practitioners, social care students and academics to reflect on the nature of these issues and to offer opportunities to share experiences and best practice.

The key note speaker is Fulbright Scholar Dr Marciana Popescu (Graduate School of Social Services, Fordham University) who will present on her current research focusing on the impact of migration policies on women refugees. Further speakers are drawn from both practice and academia who will take part in panel Q&A sessions to facilitate discussion between delegates and speakers. We have also been granted permission by Dr Shreepali Patel to share the nominated AHRC film The Crossing, which documents the story of a young women who has been trafficked.

Whilst attendance at the conference is free and refreshments will be available on arrival please note that lunch will not be provided.
