Welcome to foreCASt: data and insight from Citizens Advice Scotland.
Date: Thursday 28 August 2025
Time: 10:00 - 11:00am GMT
ForeCASt is a quarterly webinar from Citizens Advice Scotland that showcases our data and insight into the issues that are affecting people in Scotland and forecast the solutions we need to see to improve people's lives.
There's no place like home.
Join us for the latest episode of foreCASt which will explore what it means for all of us to have a safe, secure and sustainable home. More than a year on from the Scottish Government declaring a housing emergency, we know thousands of people continue to experience homelessness, rent arrears and appalling living conditions.
Our Director of Impact, David Hilferty will open the session with the most up to date insight from the Citizens Advice network in Scotland, focusing on what issues are causing the most harm and the solutions that we need to see, with a particular focus on our insights into the private rented sector.
Aoife Deery, Senior Policy Officer, will then deep dive into some of the most pressing issues for people seeking advice from the CAB network. This will include the issues people are facing regarding damp, mould and disrepair, alongside the challenges that exist between social security and housing payments and the solutions we need to see in these areas.
Finally, you will hear from our expert guest speakers, Benjamin Napier, Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Edinburgh and Alison Watson, Director of Shelter Scotland who will reflect on what they have just heard, and offer insight from their own roles.
The session will conclude with a Q&A.
