A recent survey from the IA shows that investors are more sceptical and pessimistic on ESG investing than they were last year, with investor expectations of ESG strategies' performance having significantly declined. Our panel of leading industry experts will look to understand why investors' views have changed over the past year and how that could impact the drive to become a more sustainable world with retail investors playing an integral part in that transition.

Alison Henry, Baillie Gifford, Product Specialist in the Positive Change Team

Alison joined Baillie Gifford in 2013 and is a Product Specialist in the Positive Change Team. She began her career in New York before returning to Edinburgh in 2010 to join Investec. Alison holds an MA (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Edinburgh.

Emma Wall, Hargreaves Lansdown, Head of Investment Analysis & Research

Emma is responsible for developing and implementing the investment processes for Hargreaves Lansdown Asset Management solutions. She also leads the Senior Research Team, which reviews investment selections against parameters designed to flag potential risks to clients.

Emma joined HL in April 2019 from Morningstar where she provided investment news, views and analysis to investors across the UK, Australia, Canada and India. Prior to joining Morningstar in July 2013 Emma spent six years as a financial journalist at the Daily and Sunday Telegraph.

Martin Gilbert, Asset Co, Chairman

Martin Gilbert has a long history in asset and wealth management. He co-founded Aberdeen Asset Management PLC in 1983 and was Chief Executive Officer from 1991 to 2017. During that period Aberdeen Asset Management PLC grew, through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisition, to become one of the world’s leading independent asset managers with £308 billion of AUM.

Martin is now chairman of Revolut Ltd and Toscafund and senior independent director of Glencore plc, alongside a number of other directorships.

Nick Scullion, Partner and Portfolio Manager, Foresight Group

Nick is a Partner and Portfolio Manager and co-leads the Foresight Public Markets investment team. He is Lead Manager of the FP Foresight Sustainable Future Themes Fund (SFT) and the FP Foresight Global Real Infrastructure Fund (GRIF) and is based in our London office.

Prior to Foresight, Nick worked in M&A and has over 12 years' experience in capital markets and corporate finance in the UK and the Netherlands.
