About the Panellists and Chair

Robert Curran – Consulting Analyst, Appledore Research

Robert has over 25 years’ experience in telecom and software, including CEO and CMO roles. He brings experience of corporate and product marketing, messaging and communications from a range of contexts from start-ups to scale-ups to blue-chip telecom, and across vendors and operators. His career spans a variety of roles at Orange, Cramer Systems, Amdocs, Telcordia, Ericsson, and network planning software vendor Aria Networks. At Appledore, Robert focuses on Open RAN and the disruptive change created by cloud and automation.

Dr Shadi Moazzeni - Smart Internet Lab, University of Bristol

Shadi specialises in Native-AI 6G networks, focusing her research on the orchestration and optimisation of next generation intelligent networks, multi-access edge computing, and intelligent multi-objective profiling towards zero-touch network and service management. At BDFI, she continues her pioneering work on Native-AI networks to enhance future network performance and develop innovative, human-centric networking solutions.

Doug Pulley - RANsemi CTO and Co-founder

Doug has over 30 years of industrial experience in wireless systems, from 1G to 6G, working for a mobile network operator (Vodafone), an equipment manufacturer (Lucent), a wireless regulator (Ofcom) and various semiconductor companies (Picochip, Intel, Xmos and Picocom amongst others). Doug was co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of UK wireless semiconductor start-up, Picochip, pioneers in chips for femtocells and small cells. Doug has a PhD in wireless area coverage techniques and patents granted or filed across a range of areas including wireless and AI.

Dan Warren - Communications Research, Samsung Electronics

Dan is Director of Advanced Network Research at Samsung Research UK.  He leads a team of researchers working on cutting-edge mobile telecoms technology innovation, in the fields of 5G, Beyond 5G and the application of Artificial Intelligence. Dan applies his broad experience in the industry across technical, commercial, strategic and regulatory topics to steer Research towards relevant and commercially viable solutions. Dan is currently Chair of the Steering Board of the European Commission 5G-PPP, a Board member of 5GIA and a member of a number of External Advisory Boards for academic research projects.​
