What to Expect at Forest Bathing+: Nature, Science, and Pure Relaxation!

Get ready to unplug and unwind at Alton Water! Our Forest Bathing+ sessions combine the ancient Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) with a dash of modern science and a sprinkle of fun. Over 3 hours, you’ll take a slow, mindful walk through the stunning woodland, diving into sensory exercises that help you reconnect with nature, calm your mind, and refresh your soul.

While we’ll guide you through nature's wonders, we’ll also share some cool facts about why trees are your new best friends—like how breathing in that fresh woodland air actually boosts your health (yes, really!). But don’t worry—this isn’t a science class; it’s about relaxation and enjoying the present moment.

Leave the hustle and bustle behind, as you step into a world of peace, awe, and clarity. You’ll see the nature like never before, noticing the little details and feeling more grounded than ever. We promise, you’ll leave with a renewed sense of calm—and a new love for trees!

Enjoy the experience with a handful of others, gently guided by a certified practitioner.

Venue: Alton water, Holbrook Road, Stutton, IP9 2RY. We recommend using Google Maps to plan your journey to Alton Water in order to find the most efficient travel route by car. Please note: due to the size of the site, each car park has a different postcode.

What to Wear & Bring (So You’re Woodland-Ready!)

  • Hands-free is best – bring a small backpack to carry your essentials (water, snacks, etc)
  • Mat magic – pack a picnic blanket, groundsheet, or something comfy to sit or lie on
  • Layer up – woodland stays cool, even on warm days, so an extra layer is a good idea
  • Cover up smart – long sleeves and trousers help protect against scratches and bugs
  • Step confidently – wear sturdy shoes or boots with good grip and ankle support
  • Be sun-smart – a hat and sunscreen can come in handy on bright days
  • Prepare for rain (just in case) – waterproof jacket, trousers, or a trusty umbrella
  • Skip the scent – leave perfumes and fragranced products at home so we can fully enjoy the natural woodland aroma
