    ..... and an introduction to the restorative powers of immersing yourself in the beauty of nature.

    Everybody needs nature. Today’s busy lives can have significant impact on our mental and physical wellbeing and many of us instinctively head outside as a way to unwind and feel refreshed. But how often do we take the time to stop, focus our attention on the smaller details and really connect with the outdoor places we love?

    'Forest Bathing' is a direct translation of the Japanese shinrin-yoku, and despite what the name suggests, it is not water bathing but bathing in the beauty and restorative powers of nature. Developed in Japan, the concept of this relaxation practice is very simple: to slow down and immerse yourself in the forest atmosphere in order to improve wellbeing.

    In this forest bathing event, Amanda Bate of Forest & Nature Bathing Sussex, guides you through a mindful and relaxing woodland wellbeing session, using your senses and breath to ground you in the moment, calm your mind and reconnect with nature. Join us for this exclusive event in the natural beauty of Sheffield Park and give your wellbeing a boost.

    Please Note:

    • Please meet at Visitor Reception 10 mins prior to the event start time. The event lasts approximately 2hrs.
    • Please wear suitable clothing and footwear - the event is entirely outdoors. Bring some water, a blanket to sit on and a small backpack so you are hands free and unhindered.
    • The event is entirely outdoors. Please note: Paths are uneven in many places and tree roots may present trip hazards. Unfortunately, the paths and walkways in the woodland area are not suitable for wheelchair users, pushchairs or powered mobility vehicles.
    • The event is aimed at adults.
    • A mix of clothing in case of weather change is recommended. You may need a sun hat and lotion and a wet weather jacket. Waterproof walking boots or Wellington boots are required as the ground can be very muddy or wet and slippery at all times. Legs should be covered to make being on the ground more comfortable and in case of nettles/brambles.
    • The event will take place in all weather and only cancelled for persistent, torrential rain or very high winds that might pose a health risk.
