Forest Bathing on the Full Moon
Event Information
About this Event
Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-yoku is the practice of immersing yourself in nature; ‘bathing’ in the awesome goodness that trees release into the atmosphere; reaping the benefits from magic little things called ‘phytoncides’ and receiving mental calmness from the fractal patterns, vibrant shades of green and calming blues around us – what better place to do this than the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland.
Every month we have the opportunity to 'forest bathe' under a new full moon. Personally, I used to be afraid of the dark - but now I find a comfort in being amongst the trees at night, feel supported and looked after by them and the animals around us. The land sounds different and certainly looks different and our senses are heightened in the new light we experience during a session - but fear not, as a small group we will be there together.
During a Forest Bathing session you can expect to be out for about 1 & ½ – 2 hours and I will guide you through a series of invitations aimed at opening your senses and reconnecting you with yourself and the environment around you. We don’t actually bathe in water – unless you want to! This name actually come from the Japanese translation of Shinrin-yoku which is ‘take the atmosphere of the forest’ and so we are ‘bathing’ in the forest atmosphere.
