About this event

Health • Other

Join us for an immersive woodland experience of forest bathing (from the Japanese ‘Shinrin-Yoku’) in beautiful Graves Park. Originating in Japan in the 1980s to help city dwellers manage modern life's pressures, this practice has a strong evidence base for improving psychological wellbeing and reducing stress.

The session will involve a series of sensory activities designed to help you slow down and engage fully with the woodland environment through all your senses. As well as personal benefits, forest bathing cultivates a sense of reciprocity– inspiring participants to give back to nature as well as receive from it, and the session will include time to reflect on ways you can support local wildlife and help nature flourish.

Whether you're seeking stress relief, environmental inspiration, or simply a peaceful break from busy life, this morning in nature will provide a gentle yet powerful way to nurture both yourself and the planet.

The session will be led by Helen Todd, certified forest bathing practitioner, in collaboration with the Graves Park Climate Resilience project.

What to bring: Comfortable outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for woodland paths (bring an extra layer as we’ll move slowly). A mat or plastic bag to sit on is recommended. All abilities welcome- contact Helen if you have particular mobility needs.

Where to meet: Graves Park Charles Ashmore Car Park (at the top of the park). Many buses go to nearby Meadowhead Charles Ashmore Road bus stop, and there is free parking in the car park.

When to meet: Please arrive by 10am. We'll set off by 10:15
