About this event

Forest Bathing Walk in Ancient Woodland

Join us for a rejuvenating forest bathing experience in the enchanting ancient woodland at YWAM, Harpenden. Take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of nature. Let the calming atmosphere and fresh air restore your mind, body, and spirit and learn how to add the forest bathing exercises to your self care routine.

Forest Bathing is a slow guided walk where you engage in a series of relaxation, breathing and nature connection exercises. The experience aims to enhance your sense of well-being, relieve stress and encourage relaxation.

Scientific studies have found that forest bathing aids relaxation, helps to reduce blood pressure, improves feelings of well-being and can help stimulate creativity.

Embarking on your forest bathing journey is easy. All you need is a willingness to slow down and try something new. As a certified forest bathing guide, I will lead you through the forest, providing guidance and activities to enhance your sense of well-being.

Please dress in comfortable clothing, suitable for the weather. We recommend hiking boots or waterproof boots if the ground is wet. You may wish to bring along a waterbottle for during the walk. We will be outside for the duration of the experience in woodland where it often a little cooler so you may wish to bring an additional layer (plus waterproof layer if needed). Please arrive promptly as we cannot wait for latecomers.

Frequently asked questions

I'm not very fit and can't walk far. Is this something I can do?

Yes! Our guided forest bathing walks don't require any fitness level. We walk very slowly, covering less than one mile during the walk.

I've never done a forest bathing walk before - what does it involve?

Your guide will welcome you at the beginning and give you a short overview of forest bathing and its benefits. You will then walk slowly around a planned route in the private woodland, stopping to experience different sensory exercises throughout the walk. We finish with a warming herbal tea.

What should I wear?

Our guided forest bathing walks take place outside in private woodland. We recommend close-toed shoes such as trainers or walking boots, depending on the weather. It's always slightly cooler in the woods so we recommend bringing an extra layer and a waterproof coat depending on the weather.

Where do we meet?

Our forest bathing walks take place in the private woods at YWAM. From the car park, walk across the garden area between the cafe and the chapel towards the playing fields. Once on the playing fields, the entrance to the woods is on the left hand side. A Deep in Nature flag marks the entrance.
