About this event
Beat that back to work and school feeling by starting your weekend with some relaxing nature therapy - and give your wellbeing and immune system a boost. Join us for a Forest Bathing+ session in the ancient woodland of Beckenham Place Park. Enjoy slowing down mind and body as we take a gentle walk of 1.5-2km through the woodland, stopping in glades to do some mindfulness-based practices using our senses and chilling out with a peaceful, guided relaxation under the tree canopy. There will also be time to choose from some nature crafting, guided meditation or solo exploration time.
There is a wealth of scientific research, that shows that being in a forest or wooded area can have a host of health benefits for our mental and physical well-being, e.g. it can: boost our mood, reduce stress and anxiety, and improve immune system function and sleep.
Your guide, Maya, (qualified with The Forest Bathing Institute -Complimentary Medicine Association accredited), has experience of leading forest bathing sessions for 275+ people (in both Beckenham Place Park and for council staff at lunchtimes in Surrey).
New attendees need to please complete an online health/mobility form via this link:

Yes forest bathing is an all weather activity. Even in the rain it can bring benefits/be quite lovely- as long as you have waterproof clothing. Yes, forest bathing is run all year round. In colder months the sessions are shorter and it is important to wear several warm layers on your body and legs.
You need to wear shoes with a good grip, ideally ankle support and waterproof (if rain is forecast). In the cooler months, It is important to wear lots of warm layers, as we walk slowly and stop frequently -so our body temperatures can drop. If rain is forecast you need to wear waterproof clothing
Yes. All participants need to complete a registration form so that the guide can ensure the session meets your needs and for insurance purposes. Here is the link to the online form:
The car park is not big and is often full by mid-morning. Parking charges are payable via Paybyphone or cash at PayPoint stores and are priced according to vehicle emissions. Therefore it is advisable if you can, to come by public transport or bike.
As the route goes deeper into the woodland where the paths are uneven and can be narrow, the standard session is not suitable for mobility scooters or people who are unsteady on their feet. Do contact me about the accessible sessions that are possible.
