Saturday 18 October 11.00-16.00
Take part in a one-day climate action, to sing forest ecosystems back to health in Jesmond Dene, led by artist Uta Kögelsberger. The work will be recorded and screened at Tate Modern on November 4th.
The work is an expansion of a five-channel video installation, Forest Choir, developed in collaboration with the Brussels Opera Youth Choir, and part of my current solo exhibition which you can see at the Hatton Gallery.
In a playful interpretation of research that claims that playing music to plants accelerates their growth and improves their immune system, the work sets about singing forest ecosystems back to health.
This new version of the work will be practice and performed as a choir performed in a single event in Jesmond Dene on October 18th.
A score will be shared with participants on the day. Participants do not need to be able to sing the whole song but could choose to participate in sections and with the preparation of the song. The song coming together on situ as we work together as a group is part of the creative work.
There will be breaks throughout the workshop.
Open to all ages and experience levels.
For those that would like to have access to the score beforehand please contact: Uta.kogelsberger@ncl.ac.uk
