Event description

Description

‘I breathe better, doing something I don’t know how to do’ (John Cage)

The Amateurs Club is a new monthly art club initiated by Forest Fringe following their departure from the Edinburgh Festival - a place where professional artists of all kinds can come to be amateurs, a club where everyone is welcome and commited to collective unknowing, and plunge in anyway. The Amateurs Club is a factory where no one knows how to operate the machinery but where, with any luck, nobody will be injured. Together in this space willing participants meet, explore, exchange, discuss, imagine and experiment. Most importantly, it is a space for doing things, or for learning how to do things, from cinematography to civil disobedience to founding a political party.

Come along, join in, figure it out, and in the process be part of the development of Forest Fringe’s next major project.

Date in the series:
19 Oct 2017
16 Nov 2017
14 Dec 2017

Forest Fringe is an organisation run collaboratively by three artists based in the UK. Together we create festivals, host residencies and occasionally commission new work as a way of helping support a large and diverse community of independent artists working across and between theatre, dance and live art.
