Join Julia Mackay and Douglas Gooday for this introduction to fire skills. This course will cover health & safety, safe siting & fire management, sustainability of resources and environmental impacts.

Objectives - by the end of the training session the learner will:

Understand the basic principles of fire lighting
Have a greater understanding of health & safety considerations including risk assessments
Have a greater understanding of environmental impacts
Have a great understanding of sustainable tinder & wood
Have gained hands-on experience of fire lighting

T he course will follow the OWL Scotland Fire Guidance.

It is advised that before booking a place you check with your employer/local authority/provider, that you are insured and have permission to have a fire in your own/local setting.

W hat to bring -

Appropriate outdoor waterproof jacket & trousers, warm layers & socks, boots, gloves, hat, gardening type gloves, note pad, pen, water bottle, snack, lunch and camping chair (if you require extra comfort around the campfire).

Due to limited spaces, a paid deposit is needed to book on to this course. If you attend the event, you will be issued with a refund minus the Eventbrite booking fee (this works out at less than £3). If you book a space and do not attend the cost of the ticket will not be refunded.
