Event description

Description

Put down your troubles, leave your worries behind- and follow the path into the forest. This is your time to relax, unwind, and rest in the tranquility of nature.

Forest Meditation Retreats run from 9am -1pm, and take place at the Living Classroom, a wooden lodge that sits in the ancient woodland above Durweston in Dorset.

The retreat will begin with a meditation and light yoga session in the Classroom (suitable for all ages and experience).

Then it will be your chance to head outside and explore. Follow sundrenched paths that wind through the forest. Rest in the cool earthiness of the Beech Wood. Tune in to silence that is filled only with birdsong and the gentle rustling of leaves. I'll show you simple mindfulness exercises that will awaken and heighten the senses to your surroundings- you'll immediately notice how rich and vibrant your experiences become.

There will be also be time to relax, read or simply enjoy a quiet cup of tea (with homemade cake of course).

These retreats offer a supportive space to stop, let go of outside pressures, and just BE. They're fun, and they're good for the soul. You'll also receive the healing benefits of spending time out in nature in a mindful and fully connected way-

  • Peace of mind
  • Improved mental health
  • Strengthened immune system
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Ease of aches and pains
  • Reduced stress, anxiety and feelings of overwhelm

So, take the opportunity to dive deeper into your spiritual practice, to be creatively inspired by the beautiful surroundings or to simply enjoy the gentle pace of a morning that is quiet and still.

This retreat is being offered for £25, to include tea and homemade snacks.

FAQs

How do I find the venue?

Take A350 from Shaftesbury towards Blandford. As you approach Blandford, turn right at the traffic lights onto A357, and go over the river bridge towards Durweston. Go through the village and take the left turn onto Norton Lane, which is a narrow, steep lane (postcode at the turning is DT11 0QE). Follow Norton Lane up the hill and go over the cattle grid. Continue to the top of the hill, and turn right onto the unmade track towards Bonsley Wood and the Living Classroom. There will be signs at the Norton Lane turning and Bonsley Wood turning guiding you to 'Forest Retreat'.

What should I bring?

Wear comfortable clothing and bring a weather appropriate jacket if needed. Closed footwear such as trainers or walking boots are recommended. You may also want to bring a blanket to sit on.

What if it's raining?

The retreat will still go ahead. Wear some warm clothing and bring a waterproof jacket so that you can enjoy exploring the forest during rainfall. There will be hot drinks and snacks available, and the opportunity to rest and relax by a woodburning stove if you'd rather not be outside. In the case of extreme weather, I'll contact you by email and let you know that the retreat has been postponed. You will automatically be offered a place on the one of the next retreats.
