Forest of Dean Mushroom Foraging Experience
Wed 12 October 2016, 10:00 – 17:00 BST
This special event is the perfect opportunity to experience a full day of foraging in one of the UK's richest habitats for fungi. Foraging will take place over three different locations and will fill the best part of the day. Previous year’s events have yielded over a hundred different species including a total of 38 edible varieties, many which are highly sought-after. The list included large numbers of Cep or Penny Bun, Parasol Mushrooms, Cauliflower Fungus, Beefsteak Fungus, Charcoal Burners, Blushers, Saffron Milk Caps, and many, many, more.
Please note: there are limited spaces for this event, making it an ideal learning ground for those keen to explore the fascinating world of fungi. Early booking is recommended.
Food is NOT provided so do bring plenty of food and drink with you for maintaining energy levels. Mushroom foraging can be tiring work. Further details available on booking.
Please note: This event is first and foremost an educational event, with emphasis placed upon honing ID skills, as well as an opportunity to meet some truly wonderful wild mushrooms. A modest collection of common edible spcies will be collected (with rare species being left in situ) allowing all attendees to take home a sample of our collectrive finds.
