Description

A stunning 5K route around the lakes in Wanstead Park, popular with families and runners.

Held annually since 2005, The Forest Run supports charities that work to tackle poverty in Sri Lanka, Kenya and Tanzania. The run takes a beautiful 5K route through Epping Forest, around the lakes in Wanstead Park, London E11. Families welcome.

Registration at 2pm at The Temple, Wanstead Park, E11 2LT

Follow signage from the park entrances in Warren Road E11 or Northumberland Avenue E12

All completers receive a medal and a cheer! There is a water stop on the route and water provided at the end. There is also a fabulous cake and tea stall at the finish line. Children, families, walkers and strollers all welcome.

Asha Trust, Sri Lanka

sha Trust supports projects in a challenging community where employment is precarious and housing is poor. We support community workers who run children’s’ projects and employment training schemes. PCAT, Kenya

Peter Cowley Africa Trust (PCAT) works in partnership with two community-based organisations in eastern Kenya. We fund small-scale development projects focused on improving access to clean water and diversifying farmers’ incomes. Mugoma Health Centre, Tanzania

Mugoma Health Centre will serve 25000 people in rural Tanzania. Currently people are dying of preventable illness as they cannot get to Murgwanza hospital, up to 35km away. The project was initiated by the hospital, and walls and roof have been completed. Money from the Run will go to the next building phase. Ciaran Joyce, a local GP, lives in Wanstead and worked at Murgwanza Hospital. Charity Reg number: 1156677
