Description

Technical Lecture Series 2018

In this talk, Tristan Simmonds will explore his engineering work on sculptural projects including the 2015 Milan Expo UK Pavilion ‘Hive’ with artist Wolfgang Buttress, now residing at Kew Gardens. He will show how he has leveraged computational tools to design, detail and fabricate complex structures with limited resources.

Tristan speaks about his experiences with artists and how small offices can use digital tools to execute larger, more conventional projects.

Speaker - Tristan Simmonds

A graduate of the University of Bath, Tristan has more than 20 years of experience in the design and execution of building structures across the globe. Tristan served a long apprenticeship in lightweight structures under the late Brian Forster and subsequently became involved in the design of ‘complex’ projects and the development of digital design tools.

The Technical Lecture Series is supported by Trimble.
