FORMS OF PLAY: Roots in Motion
Overview
What stories live in your body?
This two-hour dance workshop is part of Moyra’s current research exploring how emotions and memories connected to place can shape movement.
It asks: How does the body carry traces of migration? How can dance connect us to personal and collective stories?
The session unfolds in two parts:
— We explore the Andean concept of pachas — a way of understanding time and space as deeply connected, where past, present, and future coexist and influence one another.
— We move through affective geographies using music and dance from Peru, asking: What have we been taught, and what do we know simply because we’ve lived it — through celebrations, gatherings, and the joy of moving together?
Combining playfulness, improvisation, and imagination, we explore how embodied memories live within us and how they can be reimagined in the present moment.
