Event Details

This course provides practical guidance on considerations to be taken into account when developing surfactant‑based formulations and includes problem-solving exercises. Course attendees should have an understanding of surface chemistry and the properties of commonly used surfactants.

The course tutor is Dr Bob Hefford who has many years’ experience in surface and colloid chemistry working for Unilever and Bristol-Myers Squibb where he was Director of their EMEA R&D laboratory. His responsibilities included both basic research and product development. Bob now runs an independent consultancy offering advice on advice and direction on colloid science, cosmetic science, formulation and regulation. He maintains an on-going interest in education particularly in the area of surfactant science.

Feedback from those who attended previous courses includes:

‘Enjoyed the project development section as well as the technical aspects

‘Formulation examples were well worked and good’

‘Test cases and discussion were very useful’

‘Experimental design section was very useful, also problem solving and case studies - group activities’

‘I enjoyed the discussion with examples and great presenter’

BACS members are offered priority booking with attendance limited to 20 delegates to ensure that the course is interactive. Those attending will receive both a hard copy and CD of the course material.
