Safe Urban Driving
Driver training that can help save lives.
The FORS and CLOCS Approved Safe Urban Driving course is a course for HGV/LGV Drivers and focuses on the safety of vulnerable road users. The course can contribute towards 7 hours driver CPC training.
The day includes practical ‘on-road’ cycle training to give the driver a real life experience from the perspective of a cyclist riding on the UK’s roads.
CPC24-7 are running the approved, Safe Urban Driving Courses across the UK.
The course consists of two 3.5 hour modules (both delivered on the same day).
The first module is classroom-based theory, which includes information about sharing the roads safely and the safety of vulnerable road users. Delegates are encouraged to engage with question and answer sessions and share experiences.
The second module, an outdoor practical session where drivers get on bikes equipped with helmets and high vis jackets and get a cyclist’s view of the road. This part of the course focuses on sharing the road safely and highlights the vulnerability of other road users. It also explains how our city streetscapes are evolving to encourage more active travel such as walking and cycling.
The course meets the requirements for the CLOCS Scheme, which is now being specified by many construction companies across the UK. These courses count as 7 hours DCPC.
