This autumn, acclaimed author, activist, and co-founder of the international climate campaign 350.org – Bill McKibben – will lead the Fossil Free Europe Tour. As with previous sell-out tours in the USA and Australia, he will make the case for how the core business model of the fossil fuel industry is destroying our climate, and poses the greatest threat humanity has ever faced.
This won't be a typical lecture, but a multi-media experience that will help galvanise the movement. McKibben will bring together, on stage and on video, an impressive group of social movement leaders, organisers, climate scientists, and opinion leaders to make the case that divesting from fossil fuel companies is not just morally just, but ecologically and economically smart. He will do so in collaboration with local movement leaders from Edinburgh People & Planet and live musical performances from the ground-breaking artist Filastine. There will also be video contributions from Archbishop Desmond Tutu and author Naomi Klein.
Tickets for this event are on a sliding scale. We recognize that not everyone has the same financial capacity, and being an active part of this movement comes in many forms. See the suggested donation amounts, and please pay whatever you feel you are able to. All seating is open. If you still can't afford the Student/Activist rate, contact firstname.lastname@example.org we'll see what we can do to make sure you can attend the event.
Doors will open at 6:30, with the program starting promptly at 7pm. This event is presented by 350.org, People & Planet, and Operation Noah.
