Reimagine London brings you: Fossil Free London’s Summer Social!

Join us for an event of celebration, connection and creativity.

We’ll start the evening at 4pm with an optional guided river walk along the River Lea, learning about the rich social history and ecology of the Lea and its transformation from its industrial past to its urban rewilding present.

After the walk, we’ll then gather at Cody Dock - an environmental charity and community hub - for crafts, music and drinks by the river from 5:30pm. Whether you’ve been campaigning with us regularly or following along in solidarity, all are welcome to catch up and celebrate.

Come along to a guided walk along the River Lea to discover the hidden stories and living landscapes of London’s second-largest river.

From the stories of the suffragettes to ongoing battles between eels and cormorants, the River Lea provides us with a living archive of stories from history and ecology, right in the heart of East London.

We’ll start the walk at 4pm from Hackney Wick, before heading along the bank of the River Lea, and ending up at Cody Dock, an environmental charity and community hub working to preserve and restore ecology along the Lower River Lea Valley.

Along the way, we’ll discuss activism (from the bold actions of the suffragettes to the struggles of the striking matchgirls) as well as taking part in nature spotting along the Lea (a rich ecosystem known to be home to everything from seals to bats!).
