Description

Gloucestershire County Council’s Fostering Recruitment Team is looking for people who can provide a home to unaccompanied young asylum seekers who have made their own way into the country. They will normally be male, from 15 to 17 years of age and from a wide range of countries like Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran.

A social worker, an experienced foster carer and a young asylum seeker who has been fostered in Gloucestershire will all be at this information evening. There will also be a chance to ask questions about fostering young asylum seekers.

Foster carers will need to provide a culturally-sensitive home where they can be helped to adjust to life in the UK, to overcome any trauma they may have experienced and to practice their religion.

In order to become a foster carer, you need to be over 21 and have a spare room.
