The fourth in the #IntegrateConversation founders series FOUND IT! welcomes Sasha Gay Smith to talk about why she founded her community interest company, I AM IN ME and her journey so far.

In our day to day work, we meet many people who want to set up social enterprises and begin a new journey. We have asked Sasha to talk about her experienes in setting up her CIC and discuss where her company is going next.

I AM IN ME community interest company was incorporated March 2017 and delivers tailored support to disadvantaged, 'predominantly' 14 – 25 year olds. They are an inspired teaching environment that focuses on using Skills, Expertise, Knowledge and their own lived experience, to support our beneficiaries, to promote practical, positive, consistent change, for self, family and community, consequently overcoming barriers of social, educational and economic deprivation.

They do this through 3 paths of engagement:

1. Personal Development
2. Employability (Accredited Level 2)
3. Business Start Up (Enterprise)

Their focus is strongly based around building and developing positive characters to equip young people with the tools they need to increase employment and enterprise opportunities.

Equally important is building resilience and confidence to withstand whatever life throws at them. Additionally, the programme is designed to act as a deterrent away from crime, promoting a greater sense of character.

At I AM IN ME CIC, they strongly believe that alone we can make a difference but together we can change the trajectory of a generation.
