Event description
In this CPD-certified course, you’ll apply user-centred design techniques to create a single piece of content.

About this event

The Foundation course is a CPD-certified and for people who are new to content design or want to improve their skills. You should be used to writing or familiar with creating content for websites or apps.

What you'll learn

Building on Sarah Winters’ book, this course gives you the chance to design a single piece of content. You’ll do this by finding out who your users are, what they want from you, what they need and how to give it to them.

You’ll learn how to carry out desk research, understand it, and use this information to make evidence-based decisions.

At the end of the 2 days, you’ll be able to:

  • understand how users think, talk and act,
  • explain what your users want,
  • visualise the journeys users take,
  • organise content across channels to support their journey,
  • understand how people read,
  • structure information to match how people behave online,
  • create user-centred content,
  • improve content by working with others.

CPD accredited

Content Design London’s courses are CPD accredited. This means our programmes have been reviewed independently and certified for their quality. If you complete the course, you will receive a certificate which most UK employers recognise.

How you'll learn

Our courses are taught in small groups, so our class sizes are never more than 16 people. You’ll complete individual exercises, group work and take part in discussions. You’ll also have the chance to get 1 to 1 support.

Where and when the course happens

Courses start each day at 10 am and finish at 4 pm. On both days, we have a morning break and an afternoon break, and 1 hour for lunch.

Our courses are delivered in person or online, via Zoom. If you attend online, you’ll need:

  • a good internet connection,
  • an up to date web browser,
  • a webcam,
  • a Google account to log in to Google Docs.

If you attend in person, you’ll need to bring a laptop or a tablet with you. We’ll provide everything else, including lunch.

Please note we are not able to share slides.

This course was previously called Content Design 2-day course.

Testimonials for this course from previous participants

"The course helped me imbed my understanding of content design principles, touching on user methodologies and mind modelling to help me understand why someone reads my content and how they read it in order for me to understand the best way to frame my work so that the user gets exactly what they are looking for and need. It was great to work with other people in a similar role to share ideas. I found it not only enlightening but engaging and I left feeling empowered"

“It's a must to take this course if your job has anything to do with writing. Through the exercises, you really learn why content design is so important and how you can do it. There are few trainings that manage to teach you both"

"This course should be mandatory for anyone entering the world of content design".

"This course strips back on how you see your business to how the average user sees it. It makes things simpler and easier when creating content and gives you more of a structure when writing content".
