Description

Who is the course for?

Staff who are new to end of life care or who have limited experience in this field. It is primarily aimed at non-registered staff, but registered staff new to this field of care are also welcome to attend.

What will you learn?

  • Understand the different stages of the dying trajectory.
  • Gain an insight into how to deliver practical care at the end of life.
  • Understand how pain and symptoms may be managed at the end of life.
  • Be able to recognise when someone is close to death.
  • Feel confident to communicate with patients and families about end of life issues.
  • Understand what happens when someone dies.
  • Learn about what happens after someone has died?
  • Reflect on their own feelings and emotions and to be able to develop strategies to deal with the challenges that end of life care may present.
