Event description
A one-day course designed to deliver the foundations of knowledge required, to make well-informed and evidence-based decisions.

About this Event

The aims of this course are to strengthen Pre-existing knowledge, to dispel myths surrounding electrocardiography, to increase confidence in identifying ECG abnormalities, to stress the importance of clinical correlation, but also (and often rather important) to discuss the limitations of both acquisition & interpretation.

Topics

• Review of Cardiovascular Anatomy & Physiology

• Obtaining an accurate 12-Lead ECG

• Foundations of Electrocardiography

• The Normal 12-Lead ECG

• Cardiac (QRS) Axis

• Supra-ventricular Arrhythmia

• Heart Block & Conduction Abnormalities

• Ventricular Arrhythmia

• Pacemakers & ICDs

• The ECG in Acute Coronary Syndrome

• A Step wise Approach to ECG Interpretation

Participants of this course will gain an understanding of how electrocardiography can be used within their clinical role in order to guide clinical decision making, develop a better understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, learn how to accurately and professionally obtain a 12-Lead ECG and will develop an appreciation of how a normal 12-Lead ECG presents; following a strict and proven step wise approach to interpretation.

This course stresses the importance of understanding a normal ECG presentation of normal parameters, as this allows clinicians to better identify potential abnormalities that may guide clinical decision making.

Participants will develop an understanding of acute ECG changes that result from a variety of underlying pathologies, as well as chronic findings that are frequently seen within the community.

The benefits and limitations of electrocardiography will be discussed; informed by the latest literature and evidence-based practices.

This course is specifically designed for the challenges and limitations of the Pre-hospital care environment.

Attendees will receive:

• A bespoke educational package providing the foundation knowledge of electrocardiography, as well as including the invaluable Step wise Approach to 12-Lead ECG Interpretation.

• A Certificate of Attendance on completion of the course.
