Overview

Aimed nurses working within a paediatric haematology/oncology setting who do not have a cancer qualification.

Outline: This in-person two-day course is aimed at all nurses working within a paediatric haematology/oncology setting who do not have a cancer qualification to give them knowledge around the basis of caring for a child with cancer.


Learning Outcomes: This course has been devised in order to meet the requirements of NHS England National Cancer Programme "Service Specifications of the Children's Cancer Network", in line with the Children’s Cancer Measures (National Cancer Peer Review, November 2021). The course covers all required topics to meet the standards of the RCN/CCLG Career and Education Framework for Children and Young People (CYP) Cancer Nursing 2022 v3.0, as agreed by the ODN.

  • Central Venous Access Devices
  • Management of Febrile Neutropenia
  • Plus many more!


Nurses will be given a competency document to complete at the end of the course.
