This three day skills based course is aimed at equipping individuals to manage low level conflict in the workplace using mediation skills and provide an understanding of the process. Issues addressed will range from disturbances instigated by dissatisfied employees following merger or redundancy to active grievances.
The course has been targeted at ensuring that individuals are equipped with appropriate resolution skills and processes for resolving workplace conflict and have a good understanding of where and how to refer to a more formal resolution process.
o introducing mediation and workplace mediation schemes into the organisation
o understanding the mediation process
o where mediation fits alongside grievance, disciplinary and other processes,
o the role of the mediator, and
o preliminary mediation skills.
Days 2 and 3: Interactive skills based learning including:
o Getting under the skin of workplace conflict
o Walking through the phases of a workplace mediation
o The mediator’s role in the negotiation process
o Mediating in the shadow of the law
o Challenges and Opportunities for personal development
