Foundational Lighting Design and Workshop
Overview
This full-day interactive workshop introduces the fundamentals of residential lighting design and control. Attendees will have the opportunity to bring along a live project and begin work on their own scheme with expert guidance and supervision.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A practical and engaging day exploring the principles of effective residential lighting. You will learn the steps needed to create a professional residential lighting scheme from concept to completion, gaining an outline of both the technical and design skills needed to produce a lighting ‘pack’.
Students must be competent in computer aided design software such as CAD, Vectorworks or Sketchup.
Programme
- Introduction to lighting design principles
- Understanding layered lighting and circuiting
- How to specify and position fittings effectively
- Basics of lighting control and client benefits
- Hands-on design development (with your own project)
- How to produce a lighting plan and professional ‘pack’

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Suzy Dallas - KLC Alumni | BIID Registered Member | LIA Individual Member | Darc Awards Shortlisted
Suzy is a lighting designer and lighting product designer with a background in interior design. For over 10 years, she has worked as an architectural lighting designer and, more recently, as a decorative lamp designer. A Member of the British Institute of Interior Design, Suzy is passionate about elevating the importance of professional lighting design within the architectural design arena.
Through her Lighting Design Tutorials, she supports architects, developers, and interior designers in achieving successful lighting schemes. Beyond her design practice, Suzy is a proud supporter of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Blue Marine Foundation, and CW Memorial Trust.
