Event description

Description

A unique one day course for PHYSIOTHERAPISTS, OSTEOPATHS, CHIROPRACTORS, SPORTS THERAPISTS, and SPORTS REHABILITATORS focussing on subjective examination, therapeutic alliance development, clinical reasoning, and selected manual therapy techniques to improve your outcomes across a variety of musculoskeletal presentations.

Nottingham has the wonderful privilege of hosting two of the USA's greatest Physical Therapists to present this fascinating one day course. The course will have several lectures sprinkled in throughout the day on topics of building therapeutic alliance, systematically enhancing patient expectation, evidence supporting different styles of manual therapy, and current concepts in the management of persistent pain. In total the lectures will comprise approximately 1/3 of the course with the remaining time devoted to learning and refinement of selected manual therapy techniques and exercise strategies. A combination of thrust manipulation, non-thrust mobilization, and soft tissue techniques will be instructed with an emphasis on language and patient instruction that facilitates the locus of control remaining with the patient. Finally the instructors will cover several exercise progressions they have developed from a combination of literature review and clinical experience that are effective for different subgroups of clinical presentations.
