About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Studio 3 has been providing training in the use and application of the Low Arousal Approach for three decades. Professionals, support workers, carers and family members have been able to access workshops focusing primarily on practical, non-confrontational approaches to supporting individuals who experience significant stress and present behaviours that may be difficult to manage.

This live online training is delivered by an experienced Studio 3 trainer, and equips professionals, staff teams and practitioners with an understanding of the principles of the Low Arousal Approach, and how to implement these in practice.

Low Arousal Approaches are often used in healthcare settings to manage behaviours of distress by reducing physiological arousal and preventing crisis situations. Our Low Arousal Approach sessions delve into understanding the triggers and stressors associated with behavior and how to implement low-intensity, non-confrontational strategies. The goal is to create a calming and supportive environment, empowering individuals and staff to be present in a person-centered way. These approaches prioritise understanding the individual's needs and preferences, rather than solely focusing on the behavior itself. By proactively addressing triggers and reducing physiological arousal, Low Arousal Approaches minimise the need for physical restraint or other potentially aversive interventions. By reducing stress, Low Arousal Approaches contribute to a better quality of life for individuals with a range of support needs.

This webinar is 4 hours in duration, plus a comfort break.
