Local Knowledge and Intelligence Service (LKIS) for the North East and Yorkshire, now part of the Office for Health Improvement & Disparities (OHID), Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) are running this short course to provide an introduction to population health intelligence

This course will be useful for anyone new to public health, or needing a refresher on population health intelligence.

This course is open only to those working within the North East and Yorkshire.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this course, you will:

  • understand basic concepts in population health intelligence
  • know about the features of Fingertips, OHID's platform for public health data, and be able to use it to understand a public health issue
  • be aware of other population health intelligence tools
  • know about evidence and where to find it
  • be able to put together intelligence and evidence to address a public health issue

Delivery:

This course consists of 3 e-learning modules which will each take about 30 minutes to complete:

  • Introduction to Public Health Intelligence
  • Understanding and measuring populations
  • Assessing needs

followed by 2 interactive and hands-on workshop modules of 3 hours each, delivered virtually via MS Teams:

  • Monday 18 July 1-4pm
  • Tuesday 19 July 10-1pm

Completion of the e-learning is a pre-requisite for attendance on the course and you are expected to attend both workshop modules
