FOWNC 2025 AGM

The Trustees are delighted to invite the Members of the Friends of West Norwood Cemetery to receive the Report and Accounts for 2024. Refreshments will be offered before the meeting. After the AGM, we hope you will stay to join us in celebrating the publication of John Clarke & Dr Peter Hodgkinson's latest research, West Norwood Cemetery & The Second World War (2025). John and Peter will present an illustrated talk on World War II war graves.

There are commemorations of 70 service personnel and over 160 civilian fatal casualties from the Second World War in West Norwood Cemetery. This presentation will highlight a number of monuments, including those of civilian victims of the Blitz and V1/V2 attacks, and those of service personnel from all services and theatres of war, including prisoners of both the Japanese and Germans - memorials that reveal a great deal about the global scope of the war, the development of the air war which relates to the civilian and RAF casualties, as well as aspects of the human tragedies involved.
