We're at it again! With the passing of Norman who ran it in it's early days, Sam and Jason (landlords at the Fox) reformatted the race that had been stopped a few years earlier due to increased traffic on the roads. Now mostly off-road and much of it is trail running along the beautiful footpaths around the village of Thorner. The entrants are fiercely competitive and the winner is justifiably proud of their achievement as the field has both strong and amateur runners
The Fox Fun Run 2016 saw the largest field yet with one local group coming to run en masse. In 2017, the Fun Run is the week before the Leeds 10k so would make a great preparation event for this high-profile event.
The races raise money for the British Lung Foundation. The main race is 8.5km (5 miles) in length and you can take it as seriously as you like, or not. One runner completed it in 2014 with a beer keg strapped to his back and we had a fancy dress centurion in 2016.
As well as the main race, the Fun Run is a shorter distance at 2.5k and allows the children to join in the fun - and the exercise. We ensure the kids get a good warm-up before starting with a fun furry character.
All competitors are provided with water throughout the fully stewarded race, with a first aid team on standby and each runner there are bacon sandwiches on arrival back at the finish line. Look on our web site for details of previous races, the runners and times, as well as the charity Fox Fun Day planned for August.
Register now and help a great cause, while also enjoying a great morning in the countryside around Leeds and among lovely people!
After registration, you will be sent a full race application form to capture emergency contact details and some basic details about yourself. Please bring this along, completed, on the morning or the race. We suggest a £10 charity donation and collecting sponsorship for each main race runner and suggest that entrants in the 2.5k Fun Run may make an optional donation to the British Lung Foundation.
