FRAME / REFRAME: Zine Making & Inner Weather with Clare Macdonald

As we gather in the juniper-infused IMT Gallery, this workshop offers an opportunity to notice your inner weather and begin to reframe your stories through writing, meditation, and zine-making, setting intentions for the days ahead.

In uncertain times, we carry protective beliefs, inherited narratives, and quiet fears. But what happens when we pause to notice these internal frames—and begin to reframe them?FRAME / REFRAME is a group workshop that explores fear, identity, and perception through zine-making. In a reflective and supportive setting, we’ll use writing prompts, folding techniques, and collage materials to each create an 8-page personal zine.No prior experience in art or meditation is needed. This workshop offers a creative space for playful inquiry, intuitive process, and shared reflection.

Drawing materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring any personal materials or collage elements that resonate with you to enrich your experience.

A selection of herbal teas will be served throughout the evening.

What We’ll Do:

• We will begin with a guided meditation to check in with our inner state
• Group writing prompts will help surface subconscious and conscious patterns
• Learn to fold and assemble your own 8-page personal zine
• Explore drawing, collage, and layering to express internal themes
• A collective reflection on what we have uncovered in the process

This workshop is open to all: artists, writers, deep feelers, the zine-curious, and anyone navigating emotional weather. No experience necessary.

About Clare Macdonald

Clare Macdonald is a filmmaker, writer, artist, and educator whose work investigates perception, language, and inner states. With over a decade teaching and running workshops on the Architectural Association’s Foundation Course and Visiting Lecturer on the Screenwriting and Filmmaking MA programmes at London Film School, Clare is a published poet and zine-maker, member of the Zine You Next Tuesday collective formed from the Royal Drawing School’s Graphic Narratives course, with three issues in circulation and a fourth forthcoming.
