Event Details

FRAME delivers regular training schools in experimental design and statistics to increase awareness among scientists about the need to reduce animal numbers in experiments and to refine procedures. Participants gain a better understanding of how to properly design and effectively analyse their experimental programmes so that they can go on to produce higher quality science, which has made the most efficient use of a minimum number of animals.

This interactive school offers direct access to expert tutors, practical experience in designing experiments, networking opportunities, useful learning materials, meals and accommodation, all for one inclusive, value-for-money price.

  • Gain enhanced competency, training and skills in designing experiments
  • Earn 10 CPD accreditation points
  • Improve your data through your applied skills

For further information and a draft programme see: http://www.frame.org.uk/training-schools/

The training will be delivered in English.

Dr Michelle Hudson-Shore

I have extensive experience of developing, conducting and teaching on the Training Schools. I have also helped to run several shorter experimental design sessions at various scientific meetings. As well as working on reducing animal use in experimetns I assess legislation and animal use policy, including responding to Home Office consultations and reporting on the annual animal use statistics.

In my role as Scientific Programme Manager at FRAME I have published papers and given numerous lectures, presentations and posters on the Three Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) and the ethical issues surrounding animal experimentation. I also take part in various outreach activities including being a STEM Ambassador, past involvement in the Wellcome Trust funded online competition ‘I’m a Scientist get me out of here’ and engaging with graduate students at University workshops on 'Animals in BiomedicalResearch'.
