Event description

Description

Edinburgh City Organist John Kitchen and celebrated trombonist John Kenny unite to present works by Franz Liszt. Known in his day as the most virtuosic pianist in Europe, Franz Liszt wrote for many eclectic combinations of instruments including organ and trombone. The three works have recently been published (Cantico di San Francesco for the first time) in a new edition edited by Liszt scholars, Dr. Leslie Howard and Wataru Fukuda, and published by The Hardie Press.

Franz Liszt

Cantico di San Francesco

Hosannah! – Choral

Aria ‘Cujus animam’ aus dem Stabat Mater von G. Rossini

The programme will also include significant works for trombone and organ by Gustav Holst and Scottish composer John Purser's Skyelines, together with solo organ works by Franz Liszt.

The concert will be followed by a drinks reception.
