Fraser Fifield / Ardoch Suite featuring Ross Ainslie
Overview
Fraser Fifield / Ardoch Suite feat Ross Ainslie
Introducing the Ardoch Suite by Fraser Fifield; a performance of music for bagpipes and saxophone written while Fraser was the ‘Traditional Artist in Residence’ at the School of Celtic & Scottish Studies, at the University of Edinburgh.
Fraser will tell you a lot more on the night, but to help you get your geographical + historical bearings; Ardoch is in Glen Gairn (not far from Ballater), Aberdeenshire. It was the home of Jean Bain, the last known native speaker of Deeside Gaelic. Fraser Fifield will be accompanied by another super talented; performer, composer, multi- genre muso, & multi-instrumentalist; Ross AInslie.
Join us on Wednesday 19th November 2025 @ 8pm for an enchanting, musical evening of storytelling: The Ardoch Suite by Fraser Fifield.
A bit about Fraser Fifield: Fraser has worked professionally in music for almost 30yrs, releasing 11 solo albums. Performing on bagpipes, saxophone and low whistle, Fraser has explored, not only the trad:folk sounds of Scotland, but also bagpipe music found throughout the world (including re-imagining the ancient piping style we call Piobaireachd).
Fraser is highly valued & greatly admired throughout the jazz, folk:trad & world music scenes… for in-depth knowledge, the methodology + research he implements on each of his projects, and, his exploration and experimentation of the fusion between jazz + these folk:trad vibes/styles.
These days, Fraser is mostly found playing alongside these amazing musicians; Graeme Stephen, Ross Ainslie, Tom Bancroft, Paul Harrison, Chris Stout, Catriona McKay, Lolanders (a Dutch/Scottish group) & Hardeep Deerhe. He has also been a long standing member of Salsa Celtica.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 19th November 2025 @ 8pm for "The Ardoch Suite by Fraser Fifield." !!
