Register now for your free opportunity to see Shanghai teachers teaching maths. You will see a whole lesson as it would be taught in China with time afterwards to discuss how the children responded.
Two teachers from Netley Primary School (Camden) and St Mary Branston Square Primary (Westminster) have been selected to take part in a prestigious teacher exchange, focusing on mathematics, with a partner school in Shanghai. Gareth Morris and Libby Granite, who completed the NCETM Mastery Specialists programme with the Central and North West London Maths Hub last year, are among 70 expert mathematics teachers from schools across England taking part in an exchange as part of the Maths Hubs programme.
Having recently returned from a visit to Shanghai, Gareth and Libby will be hosting their Shanghai partner teachers for two weeks in January at Netley Primary School. Each teacher will be working with a particular class, leading the maths lessons over the 2 week period. We are inviting teachers, Maths Leads, Head teachers and others interested in maths education to observe some of these lessons and engage in a Teacher Research Group (TRG). You will observe a lesson how it would be taught according to the Shanghai system and then, during the TRG with the teacher you will have the opportunity to finely unpick the teaching strategies used.
We expect high demand for these sessions, so please book early to avoid disappointment applying for one session per teacher and a maximum 2 places per school.
