Event description

Description

Are you finding it difficult to get your kids to eat their veg? Struggling to feed yourself and your family fresh and nourishing food on a daily basis? Would you like to eat more vegetables but aren't sure how to prepare them?

Join us at the kitchen of The Oxford Academy for six evenings to learn great kitchen hacks to help you create convenient and tasty meals that the whole family will love!

Good Food Oxford are offering this free cookery programme to parents and family carers of school-age children who would like to learn to cook more from scratch and include more vegetables in their diet. This new course is a series of six introductory sessions designed to introduce you to some new and delicious ways of cooking simply with fresh vegetables.

You will gain experience in seasoning, combining flavours and cooking methods, helping you to experiment more once back in your own kitchen. Every participant will also be given a store cupboard of ingredients to build on each week to try things out at home. Those who attend all six of the sessions even get to take home a free piece of cooking equipment!

Classes take place at the kitchen of The Oxford Academy from 6 to 8pm on six Wednesdays in March, April and May with a two-week Easter break.

No prior experience in cooking required. Note that this course is only for the grown-ups.

Important notice: The course is aimed at parents/carers who live in South-East Oxford. If you live in another part of Oxford, you're still welcome to apply, but we may have to put you on a waiting list until mid March.

Event dates: Wednesdays 20/03, 27/03, 03/04, (Easter Break), 24/04, 01/05, 08/05/2019

If you have any questions about the course, contact mail@goodfoodoxford.org

The sessions are supported by Oxford University’s LEAP Project, funded by The Wellcome Trust; Veg Cities, a feature campaign of Sustainable Food Cities; Riverford Organic Oxfordshire and The Oxford Food Bank. The aim of the project is to understand what will enable everyone in Oxford to eat one more portion of vegetables a day.
