Event description
Protest at the UAE Embassy for Ahmed Mansoor, 'the last human rights defender left in the UAE'.

About this Event

Last year human rights defender Ahmed Mansoor was sentenced to 10 years in prison for speaking out against human rights violations in the UAE. On October 22nd he will be turning 50 years old alone in a cell, denied access to his family and lawyers.

Before his imprisonment, Ahmed was known as ‘the last human rights defender left in the UAE’ on account of his fearless work to document human rights violations in the country.

As part of our Global Week of Action for human rights in the UAE, Amnesty International and the Gulf Centre for Human Rights will be protesting at the UAE Embassy on Saturday 19 October in solidarity with Ahmed, calling on the UAE authorities to #FreeAhmed.

We will be gathering for the demonstration at the embassy at 15:00. The address is 30 Princes Gate, Knightsbridge, SW7 1QQ London.

The demonstration is followed by a panel discussion on human rights in the UAE held at the Amnesty International UK offices:

We hope to see you at either or both of the events! If you have any questions, please email Amnesty’s UAE Country Coordinator:
