About this event

Community • City & Town

These in-person workshops are open to anyone who has used mental health services, as well as their friends, families or carers. Led by acclaimed artists, the sessions are relaxed, creative, and open to all — no experience needed. They are part of a Hospital Rooms project to create permanent artworks for wards at Fieldhead and Kendray Hospitals, and the ideas, conversations and creativity shared in these workshops will help inspire the final artworks.

Find out more about the project: www.hospital-rooms.com / @_hospitalrooms

The workshop is free and all workshop materials will be provided. Please email Tim (tim.steer@hospital-rooms.com) for further information.

In-person at The Hepworth Wakefield

Wednesday 17th September, 2:30-4:30pm

Join Northern Art Prize-winning artist Haroon Mirza for an immersive workshop at The Hepworth Wakefield, exploring the power of sound and its effect on our perception.

Through guided listening exercises with singing bowls and electronic sound frequencies, participants will consider how different rhythms, tones and environments can influence states of calm, focus or excitement.

Drawing on his acclaimed practice of working with sound and light as sculptural materials, Mirza will invite participants to reflect, share perceptions, and experience sound in new and unexpected ways.

This workshop is open to all, and no previous experience is necessary — just curiosity and an openness to listen. This session sits within Hospital Rooms’ co‑production approach in partnership with SWYFT NHS Trust, centring collaboration between artists, service users and communities.
