About this event

Community • City & Town

These in-person workshops are open to anyone who has used mental health services, as well as their friends, families or carers. Led by acclaimed artists, the sessions are relaxed, creative, and open to all — no experience needed. They are part of a Hospital Rooms project to create permanent artworks for wards at Fieldhead and Kendray Hospitals, and the ideas, conversations and creativity shared in these workshops will help inspire the final artworks.

Find out more about the project: www.hospital-rooms.com / @_hospitalrooms

The workshop is free and all workshop materials will be provided. Please email Tim (tim.steer@hospital-rooms.com) for further information.

In-person at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Wednesday 3rd September, 2:00-4:00pm

In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore collograph printing – a playful printmaking process that uses everyday materials to create textured surfaces and striking imagery. Together with artist Kedisha Coakley, you’ll experiment with fabrics, string, and hair to produce layered, tactile artworks that celebrate pattern, form and materiality. We’ll start by walking around Yorkshire Sculpture Park’s collection and landscape, drawing inspiration from the textures, forms and patterns we encounter outdoors. Back in the learning studios, Kedisha will guide you through collograph printing and you'll produce your own prints. No prior experience is needed – just curiosity and a willingness to get making.

This session sits within Hospital Rooms’ co‑production approach in partnership with SWYFT NHS Trust, centring collaboration between artists, service users and communities.
