Description

The Energise Wales team is delighted to announce an energy efficiency best practice tour in collaboration with Denbighshire County Council Willmott Dixon and Wetherby Building Systems to showcase insulation works and project learnings in the area. The event will feature talks from Energy Saving Trust, Denbighshire County Council and Willmott Dixon and include a tour of the site where the energy efficiency works were installed.

This best practice event provides an opportunity for Energise Wales members to learn about the project, what worked, what problems occurred and how they were overcome.

About the works

The Arbed Warm Homes project started in November 2015 and improved the energy efficiency of 110 properties (predominantly EWI) in one of the most deprived areas of Wales.

Denbighshire worked with council budgets to deliver ‘additional works’ utilising the scale economics of the larger capital budget. The project also delivered the following benefits –

  • Secured paid work for two long term unemployed individuals using the bespoke ‘IN2 construction’ initiative
  • Provided 40 recognised training placements
  • Upskilled the local LA supply chain and local authority surveyors
  • Development of new technical ‘standard details’ to improve quality and reduce thermal bridging.

As part of the project energy efficiency advice delivered directly resulted in an additional £45,000 of income to recipient households. Recognition for this project included –

  • Carbon Action Network “Welsh Housing Award for outstanding achievement in energy efficiency and fuel poverty reduction” – winner
  • Association of Public Sector Excellence – ‘Best Energy Efficiency Initiative’ - finalist

Dechreuodd prosiect Cartrefi Cynnes Arbed ym mis Tachwedd 2015 gan wella effeithlonrwydd ynni 110 o eiddo (yn bennaf Inswleiddio Waliau Allanol) mewn un o'r ardaloedd mwyaf difreintiedig yng Nghymru.

Gweithiodd Sir Ddinbych gyda chyllid y cyngor i ddarparu 'gwaith ychwanegol' gan ddefnyddio'r raddfa economeg o'r gyllideb cyfalaf mwy. Cyflawnodd y prosiect y buddiannau canlynol -

  • Uwchsgilio'r gadwyn gyflenwi ALl leol a syrfëwyr yr awdurdod lleol
  • Datblygu 'manylion safonol' technegol newydd i wella ansawdd a lleihau pontio thermol.

O ganlyniad i ddarparu cyngor ar effeithlonrwydd ynni fel rhan o'r prosiect, cafwyd incwm ychwanegol o £45,000 i aelwydydd. Mae cydnabyddiaeth ar gyfer y prosiect hwn yn cynnwys -
