Event description

Description

The Spanish filmmaker David Macián will present his film 'The invisible hand' ('La mano invisible') and he will answer all the audience questions afterwards. The projection takes place as part of a new cycle of cinema and conversations around the work world in the post-industrial Europe; a cycle organized by professor Sarah Waters, Dr. Matthew John and Dr. Carmina Gustrán Loscos, of the Leeds University.

In 'La mano invisible', an industrial warehouse turns into a stage where a group of professionals gather daily to perform different tasks: a construction worker builds a wall before he destroys it; a girl sets pieces on an assembly line without knowing what they are for; a butcher cuts animals in decomposition; a storekeeper moves boxes from one place to another; a telephone operator carries out surveys about work satisfation; a mechanic disassembles a car and then he assembles again... Meanwhile dozens of people observe from the darkness the "wonderful" work show.

Movie in spanish with english subtitles.
