Special for Chorlton Arts Festival: A creative online workshop introducing Therapeutic Arts through the theme of restriction and freedom
About this event
Therapeutic Arts offer a dynamic approach, working with a range of art forms. These enable expression of our inner world , getting to the heart of our feelings and experiences without depending on words. For anyone interested in personal development, or who is feeling stuck or considering counselling , it can enable insights, new possibilities and ways forward.
This two-hour interactive online workshop will introduce this approach through exploring the theme of restriction and freedom. This can be interpreted in many different ways such as in relation to the COVID pandemic, health, work, retirement or a relationship.
No artistic experience is necessary, just a willingness to have a go. If you'd like a fun but meaningful space, this workshop is for you. Small zoom breakout groups will be included. All those age 16 + welcome.
This online workshop is being offered FREE in support of the Festival policy of access for all and total inclusivity. The same workshop is also being offered in person on Sunday 19th September 2021, also as part of Chorlton Arts Festival: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/introducing-therapeutic-arts-in-person-workshop-at-coffee-cranks-cafe-tickets-165046194611. Tickets for the in-person workshop are on a pay-what-you-can basis, suggested £10-25 and include materials, hot drinks and a contribution to the room hire. 10% will be donated to local Chorlton charity 'Reach Out to the Community'.
Here's what a participant from a previous workshop said: 'It was such a lovely, safe , creative space to be in. I was initially wary about the visual art aspect as I'm not an artist, but Steffie is a sensitive, empathetic facilitator and made it so much fun to work in a very non judgmental space'.
You will be sent a list of suggested low cost art materials to use.
The workshop is facilitated by Steffie's Arts Space. Steffie is a Therapeutic Arts Practitioner and experienced facilitator. See www.steffiesarts.com.
