Event description

Description

Book your place in our Fairy Garden workshop and make your own miniature garden with three real wildflowers that you can take home and plant in your garden.

Learn the folklore behind these fairy flowers and why it is so important to grow them at home. The workshop last 45 minutes including a storytelling performance at the start. Suitable for 3 to 8 yr olds. Sorry but no under 3s allowed in. One adult must accompany a child.

There will be plenty of other free events in the Vancouver Quarter this year, including the return of our very popular Halloween event and Christmas Grotto. Next up will be free Easter activities in April.

Follow us on Twitter, like our page on Facebook and keep an eye on our website for details of events when they are confirmed.

If you have any questions about either workshop email info@vancouverquarter.com

About the Fairyland Trust

The Fairyland Trust is a Norfolk-based but National conservation charity that enables children and families to experience the magic of nature.

The Trust designs and creates multi-sensory experiences for children and adults which uses folklore and stories and the imagination to engage them with wildlife, ecology and landscape through having fun at their Fairs and in travelling workshops.

These events enable young people to join in making things such as ‘fairy gardens’, lanterns and crowns, which contains embedded learning about British wildlife, its ecology and folklore, plant-animal interactions and the story of our landscape. Children can enjoy making something special and natural, such as a Magic Potion or a Magic Wand.

The trusts aim is to entertain and inspire the next generation, making conservation fun so that today's children grow up understanding and caring for wildlife, and knowing about our native trees and plants.

The charity has a group of 200+ crew and workshop leaders trained in theatrical performance, logistics, health and safety, storytelling techniques and natural history. Each of their workshops has its own (copyright) story, creation format, materials, props and magical shelters and its own specific ecological learning outcomes. It is a unique combination of drama, science, arts and crafts and spectacle.
