1943. On the outskirts of the besieged Leningrad, three children and their mother remain in an empty village, the woman is too weak to go into the forest in search of food. One day, the sons set off in search of food themselves and are faced with a non-childish choice — to save the family or the dog, which they find at the battlefield.
